We filed our 2010 income tax, and the tax refund increases our cash position. We also allocated this extra cash toward mortgage to reduce the remaining principal. By the way, we plan to adjust our W-4 so we don’t give Uncle Sam interest-free loans every year.
April has been a good month for stock market in general; it is the best month of the year so far. In fact, this month is the highest close since May 2008. The Dow is now less than 10% from its record close, set in October 2007.
Major expense for this month: a week-long family vacation trip to visit relatives in Dallas-Fort Worth area. Total costs: $1,098 (including meals, gas and gifts).
Small milestone: Total retirement accounts pass $80,000 mark for the first time ever. Our next goal is crossed over $100,000 in retirement account.
