Massive spending continues as we move to the new home: (1) we bought brand-new refrigerator, washer and dryer for about $3000. (2) Our family also take a three-day vacation in southern California to attend my cousin’s wedding. The trip costs about $1200 for the flight tickets for three of us, hotel for two nights, car rental and gift for the groom. (3) We also installed the whole-house water filtration system for $3600. (4) We spent $480 to repair 10 broken screens on the patio. (5) We made a payment about $1000 to our homeowner insurance. Throw in a couple grands to upgrade furniture and house repairs, that brings the expenditure cost for this month to well over $10,000. Ouch!
One good news is that we finally closed on the old house in Louisiana two weeks earlier than expected. As a resulted, Other Mortgage and Other Debt were paid off with money from proceeds of house sale. We also made an extra $30,000 toward the primary mortgage. My 2013 IRA Roth has fully maxed out, but I still need to contribute another $5,500 spousal IRA for my wife.
Anyway, we have set our goals for 2014: Hit $200,000 in investment and $350,000 in net worth.
